A COUNCILLOR has called for action to be taken on flooding at a community centre in Barrhead.
Councillor Chris Lunday has said more action is needed for residents affected by the flooding near Arthurlie House that has been ongoing for months.
The Barrhead, Liboside and Uplawmoor politician says he has been contacted by a number of residents after flooding on the ground of the centre has been affecting gardens on Levern Crescent.
Residents have been advised by the council that “it will inspect the location and investigate the flooding issues with a view to having the drains cleaned out/repaired”.
Councillor Lunday said: "There is clearly an issue at Arthurlie House. The flooding is causing damage to residents of Levern Crescent's back gardens. The council need to take action on this before more damage is done.
“The residents have puddles in their gardens and the water is causing damage to huts and outhouses. There needs to be something done without delay due to the heavy rainfall.
“I have requested that sandbags be placed at the fences of residents' gardens to alleviate some of the flooding."
