Police have confirmed a 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged after footage on social media appeared to show a car driving towards a Scottish independence march in Glasgow.

The rally, held on Saturday, brought together Yes supporters from across Scotland to march from Kelvingrove Park to the city’s George Square.

A video shared on social media appeared to show a car driving towards marchers on West Regent Street before a Believe in Scotland volunteer steward alongside a Police Scotland officer are seen to stop the car and force it to reverse.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with drug and road traffic offences.

“He has been released and is due to appear in court at a later date. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”

No officers or members of the public were injured during the incident.
