Arnold Clark is delighted to continue its support of the Glasgow Times' Bank on Us campaign.
The Glasgow Times is launching its sixth Bank on Us campaign on Friday, aiming to deliver thousands of gifts to our most vulnerable children in Glasgow this Christmas. With so many families struggling, this initiative aims to ensure that every child in Glasgow wakes up to a present on Christmas morning.
Sponsoring Bank on Us is just one of the many ways Arnold Clark shows its dedication to giving back to local communities.
As part of Arnold Clark’s commitment to give back to the communities in which they operate, they believe that by caring for these communities today, helps them create a better future.
That's why Arnold Clark, Europe's largest independent, family run car company, launched its own Community Fund in March 2021 to help mitigate the ill effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, providing important financial support to local community groups that were under threat of disappearing during lockdown.
Following the end of this initial funding window, it was clear that there was further demand for support. A winter edition followed with funding specifically allocated to charities and community groups who helped with poverty relief, including food banks, toy banks and housing and accommodation.
To date, the Arnold Clark Community Fund has donated more than £22 million, helping fund more than 21,000 charities and communities in the process.
This year, the Community Fund was split into three different categories, allowing the fund to support a range of charities and community groups.
Firstly, the Gear Up For Sport initiative means that each month, 300 sports kits are donated to support youth sports teams across the UK. From basketball to boxing, rugby to running clubs, any youth team with up to 30 members aged 4-15 is eligible to enter.
Arnold Clark's Cost-of-living Support was launched with more people than ever before facing severe challenges and financial hardship. The fund is available to any registered UK charity or community group whose work directly supports those most affected by the cost-of-living crisis.
Also, Arnold Clark's 'Communities Support' is funding that supports projects embedded in the communities in which they operate. It is available to organisations who provide services widely accessible to those within local communities, addressing the needs of those living within them.
Since 2016, Arnold Clark has been a proud sponsor of the Kiltwalk events that are run in conjunction with the Hunter Foundation.
The Kiltwalk fundraising platform is an opportunity for people to raise money for charities close to their hearts, while also promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Kiltwalk events occur annually at cities across Scotland, including Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen, and each event raises a phenomenal amount of money for the walkers’ chosen charities, which then gets boosted by The Hunter Foundation. For example, the Glasgow Kiltwalk alone raised a record-breaking £4 million for Scottish charities – £2.7 million raised by walkers and a further £1.35 million provided by The Hunter Foundation.
Arnold Clark's Change for Charity initiative is an optional scheme that allows employees to donate the change from their pay checks to a nominated local charity.
Thanks to Arnold Clark's generous employees, they have turned pennies into pounds, donating almost £20,000 to support various food banks, youth groups and charity groups across the UK.
Earlier this year, Arnold Clark announced a new multi-year partnership with Scottish Rugby.
As well as being the new front-of-strip sponsor of the Scotland Men’s team, Arnold Clark is also the title sponsor of the Men’s and Women’s Premiership and National Leagues.
As part of the sponsorship, Arnold Clark is delighted to be supporting grassroots rugby in the country, supporting with the delivery of rugby across Scotland by providing vehicles to Scottish Rugby employees who work in local communities.
Arnold Clark Chief Executive and Group Managing Director Eddie Hawthorne said: ‘Since the founding of Arnold Clark 70 years ago, we’ve always worked closely with our local communities, embracing opportunities to help while offering our support to those trying to build a better future.
'That's why we're extremely proud to be supporting the sixth edition of the Glasgow Times’ charity drive, Bank on Us.
‘We know how difficult the holidays can be for families who are struggling. Charity drives like this can really help families and have a real positive impact on children during the Christmas period.
'We hope our donation can help ease the stress of some families and help them enjoy their Christmas.'
