Glasgow and Strathclyde have been hit with a weather warning this week.

Strong winds are expected to batter Scots with a yellow alert being issued by the Met Office for Friday and Saturday.

Weather forecasters have predicted that East Dunbartonshire, East Renfrewshire, Glasgow, Renfrewshire, South, Lanarkshire, and West Dunbartonshire will be impacted.

They warned that injuries and a danger to life could occur from flying debris as a deep area of low pressure is expected to pass close to or across the northwest.

It will bring a spell of very strong southeasterly to southwesterly winds with gusts reaching 50-60 mph inland and 70-80 mph along coasts.

The wind strength will gradually ease through Saturday from the south.

This could cause some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs.

Power cuts may also occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.

Road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible. Some roads and bridges may close.
