New pupil run barista bar opens at high school in Motherwell

The cafe has officially opened at Bothwellpark High School and is run by the students.

It serves barista-style coffees, teas, hot chocolates, and snacks.

The Barista Bar is run by pupils at Bothwell Park High School (Image: Supplied) Open to the local community, the cafe aims to provide a relaxing space for students and help them develop customer service and hospitality skills.

Michael McGinley, headteacher of Bothwellpark High School, said: "This is an exciting opportunity for our students to gain hands-on experience in running a business while also offering a great service to our school community."

Provost Kenneth Duffy, North Lanarkshire Council provost, also praised the initiative.

Mr Duffy said: "It’s fantastic to see young people learning real-world skills that will benefit them in future careers.

"The Barista Bar is a great addition to the school, and I encourage everyone to support it."

The Barista Bar is open on Tuesdays between 10am and 11am, with all profits reinvested into school projects.
