Former Celtic midfielder David Turnbull was dubbed a 'former Celtic serial winner' by a commentator.

The 25-year-old was introduced as a substitute during Cardiff City's 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United.

Turnbull, who joined the Welsh side last summer, has struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting line-up.

At Celtic, Turnbull made 134 appearances, scoring 31 goals and assisting 25 times.

He was a key player during the 2020/21 campaign and in Ange Postecoglou's first season at the club.

Despite his efforts, he has found himself on the fringes at Cardiff.

Reflecting on Turnbull's departure from Celtic, Brendan Rodgers said in January 2024: "It goes back to the summer, knowing where David was at in his thinking.

"Obviously, he was in the last year of his contract, so I felt it was best for us and for him to get out and play.

"He has done well here.

"It hasn’t worked out quite how he wanted it to, but he is a good guy, he worked very hard, and now he will have the chance to have a permanent place to play."

Turnbull won six trophies during his Celtic tenure.
