Why have First buses with 'Aberdeen' branding been seen in Glasgow?

Eagle-eyed residents across the city have captured seemingly 'lost' buses after double-deckers have been spotted with green coatings and another city's name on them.

The curious sighting was captured by camera club member Diane Ward with an 'Aberdeen' bus ironically sitting in front of a West Dunbartonshire sign.

First Bus, which operates the number six service through Clydebank to East Kilbride via Glasgow city centre, say they have had to 'move' parts of their fleet.

(Image: Joe Mcginley) A spokesperson added that they are seeing a continued growth in passengers on the six service, and the redistribution of several buses is to manage the increase.

The spokesperson for First Bus said: “We can confirm there have been some movements of our fleet between depots in Aberdeen and Glasgow, which have resulted in a number of low-height double deckers arriving in Glasgow.

“For Service 6, where we are seeing continued growth in the number of passengers using the route, the redistribution of these buses has meant we have been able to increase the available capacity, meaning more passengers can travel in comfort.

“These buses will soon undergo repainting in line with First Bus branding.”
