Martin Lewis has issued an urgent scam warning after a This Morning viewer lost £140,000 in a cryptocurrency con, using an AI generated version of the Money Saving Expert Founder.

The furious consumer champion has issued a warning, explaining "I do not talk about crypto. I do not do advertising. I do not do investing. Please don't touch it."

The letter from the victim's brother said that he thought Martin Lewis was dealing with crypto. There's all these AI adverts online.  Over the few months, he's lost £140,000 pounds, and said the whole family had been devastated.

"It is ridiculous that the current government and the past government have never had the balls to take on big tech and their scams," says Martin.

"They have not properly regulated them. They've not done what they need to do, which is make it more expensive for them to publish these scam ads with huge fines and huge levies against them if they do than they make from making advertising so easy.

"Anybody can put their adverts on, which means scammers can put them on with impunity, and we live in a wild west when it comes to scam ads."

He adds: "No one is looking after you. You have to look after you. Frankly, any advert you see on social media with celebrities faces on it, or someone famous' face on it, I just wouldn't touch it. Always go to a separate place.

"Anything advertising crypto, do not touch it. If you want to do crypto, you need to make sure you're doing the research, not just clicking the link on social media.

"Do not touch adverts promising you to get rich, promising you investment. You do investments by doing detailed research and reading on legitimate websites, not by clicking the link."
