Huge police forensics & CID presence in Castlemilk 5 days on

A significant police presence remains in the Southside area for a fifth day as specialist officers appear to focus on woods behind the Jenniburn Centre on Ardencraig Road near Tormusk Road today, September 28, 2025.

Officers have been on the scene since Wednesday, September 24; however, the force remains tight-lipped and will not say why they are there or the nature of their investigation.

The Glasgow Times approached the force for comment again today, but did not receive a reply.

At least ten police vehicles have been seen in the area today, as well as a large number of forensic teams, who carried an unknown large device into the woodland.

CID officers also arrived in an unmarked car and were seen talking heavily with the forensics officers.

One local spoke to us at the scene today, they said: “It’s really scary that this is all happening so close to home. I walk my dog up through there every day, and the thought of finding something like what they’re saying is terrifying.

"If I were living in those houses surrounding it, I’d be having panic attacks daily.”

Images taken by our photographer earlier in the week showed cops in white hooded overalls combing the scene. They were carrying equipment and were clearly looking for evidence.

Meanwhile, no members of the public can access the wooded area with police tape erected and uniformed officers standing guard.

It comes after we reported several parts of Castlemilk were being guarded by police on Thursday. The Glasgow Times understands from social media that they arrived at the suspected crime scene on Wednesday night.

Locals have speculated that it could be in relation to current probes into missing men Graham Wright and Lewis Cuthbert but Police Scotland will not answer our repeated requests for more information.

Graham, 38 was reported missing on August 25, having last been seen on August 20 at around 12pm on Cumberland Street in the Gorbals.

His remains were later discovered at Rubha Dubh, near Firkin Point, on September 17.

Busker Lewis Cuthbert, 25, was last seen on August 4 at around 4pm in the Lesmahagow Road area of Strathaven. He remains missing.

The Glasgow Times spoke to locals on Friday. One said: "Something serious must have happened. There is a lot of polis and they are in the woods looking for something. No one knows what it is about."

Another man told the Glasgow Times he heard it was to do with the missing men.

Police Scotland will only comment it is connection with an ongoing investigation. The nature of the investigation continues to remain a mystery.
