Chris Sutton reckons Sean Dyche is "the one" for Rangers as they search for a new manager.

The Ibrox club are yet again on the hunt for a new figurehead following the sacking of Russell Martin after just four months in charge.

Celtic hero Sutton is usually quick to wind up the other half of the city but on this occasion he is offering some serious advice on who he reckons they should go for.

Former Everton manager Dyche, who worked with Rangers sporting director Kevin Thelwell, ticks a lot of boxes for him.

Two of those being an ability to get the best out of players and having a thick skin.

Speaking on the The Warm-Up podcast, he said: "I think Sean Dyche would be the one. If you want somebody to come in and get the best out of a group and who is proven at doing that, I think Sean Dyche is extremely effective.

"He did a brilliant job at Burnley with very small resources. If you look at what happened to him at Everton, eventually he got the sack but when he went in with the mess he took over, I thought he did an excellent job.

"You also need a thick skin. I'm not so sure Russell had a really thick skin even though he used to say he did.

"Sean Dyche ticks that box and I would probably err towards him."

It comes after Kris Boyd said Dyche was the "obvious" choice while also namechecking Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard.
