Over 55 affordable homes are set to be built in Renfrewshire as part of a new £14million project.

The new community is set to be created in the heart of Braehead, with the proposed work to begin in March 2026.

The project, which has attracted £2million in Scottish Government funding, will see the provision of two and three-bedroom homes and one and two-bedroom apartments.

It been designed to accommodate families, couples, sole residents, elderly tenants and key workers alike, being located just over a mile from Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Planning permission was granted in May 2021 for the affordable housing scheme with Sanctuary Scotland investing in the site in 2022.

The 4.5-acre area has since been prepared ready for work and, following final Scottish Government tender approval, the project will start in the Spring of 2026 with completion estimated by Autumn 2027.

Peter Martin, Sanctuary Group managing director, Asset Strategy and Development, expressed his "excitement" at the project.

He said: "This is a really exciting project for us. With the Scottish Government having declared a national housing emergency, we’re now ready to deliver 57 new homes to suit people with varying needs and circumstances.

"The development of this site will support Renfrewshire Council in helping alleviate its growing housing waiting list.

“Sanctuary Scotland’s construction team will oversee the entire project from start to finish, employing local sub-contractors to support with the build.

"The knock-on effect of supporting the local construction industry is a real bonus.

"We can’t wait to get started in the Spring.”
