Clydebank FC has banned unaccompanied children from Holm Park after an incident at an away game.

Under-16s will no longer be able to attend matches at the team's home ground after a group of young supporters set off flares at a game last month.

The club says the action of the youths was in contravention of Scottish FA rules and that they take supporter safety extremely seriously.

The team played against Stranraer at Stair Park on November 29 where the Dumfries and Galloway side won 2-1.

A spokesperson for Clydebank FC says they fear the flare activity could pose a wider impact for the club.

They said: "Clydebank FC takes supporter safety extremely seriously.

"At our Scottish Cup third round tie away at Stranraer, a group of our younger supporters set off flares – in contravention of Scottish FA rules. This has potentially wider implications for the football club.

"Subject to the individuals responsible being identified, the club will now require any U16s to be accompanied by an adult when attending Holm Park.

"This position will remain in place until the new year."

Clydebank FC's next match is against Civil Service Stoller at Holm Park at 3pm on Saturday, December 13.
