Tributes to Glasgow Laura Strathearn after death breast cancer battle

Beauty therapist Laura Strathearn sadly passed away at the Beatson Centre during the early hours of Sunday, January 11.

Hundreds of people have since paid tribute to her online, describing her as "beautiful," "inspiring" and "deeply missed."

Laura was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in January 2021 after suffering a miscarriage.

While recovering at home, she noticed a prominent blue vein on her right breast. At first, she thought it might be a hormonal change.

But after speaking with her husband Fraser, she decided to visit her GP.

A biopsy revealed the cancer had already spread to her lymph nodes.

But the tragic news of her death was shared on her health and beauty  Facebook  page The Kind Face, last week.

A heartbreaking tribute was paid to Laura on the page, it read: "I am devastated to have to announce the passing of the kind face herself, Laura Marie Strathearn, after a long and brave battle with cancer.

"She passed away in the early hours of Sunday, January 11 in the Beatson, surrounded by her family.

"Laura was a truly inspirational human being, maintaining such a passion for making others feel beautiful whilst dealing with her illness.

"She was a beautiful person inside and out, and she will be missed terribly.

"Please do not send any flowers, instead make a donation to the Beatson cancer charity who took such good care of her.

"I will keep this page open for a week or two and try to get back to any enquiries that are outstanding."

Friends, clients and colleagues have filled the comments section with messages of condolence.

One person wrote: "I’m heartbroken to hear this sad news.

"Laura was my make-up artist for my wedding in March last year.

"Laura was the most beautiful, kind and inspiring person.

"Sending all my love to her husband, friends and family.

"Laura, you will be deeply missed."

Another commenter said: "Such sad news.

"Laura was one of the most beautiful and kindest women I had the pleasure of meeting.

"Sending love and prayers to all the family.

"You will be sadly missed."

A third person wrote simply: "This is devastating news, I don't know what to say.

"I am absolutely heartbroken."

One tribute read: "The most beautiful soul.

"A smile that could light up any room.

"A most loved colleague and friend.

"Laura will always be sorely missed.

"Sleep tight, angel."

Another said: "So very sad.

"Laura was such a lovely girl and so good at what she did.

"There are no words to convey just how unfair and heartbreaking this is for everyone who knew her.

"Sleep tight, beautiful.

"Forever in our hearts."

One friend wrote: "Laura, you were an inspiration.

"I’m so happy to have met you.

"You fought so hard with such positivity.

"I will miss you and send your husband, family and friends so much love.

"Rest peacefully."

In keeping with the family's wishes, the Facebook post requested that mourners not send flowers.

Instead, donations are encouraged in Laura's memory to the Beatson Cancer Charity , in recognition of the care she received.
