A bogus tradesman preyed on a Lanarkshire resident in broad daylight , taking cash for “guttering work” and vanishing within minutes.
The man knocked on the door of a property in Clydeford Drive, Uddingston, around 3pm on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. He offered to carry out repairs to the guttering and was handed a sum of money by the occupant.
He claimed he would return within 10 minutes, but he was not seen again.

He is described as white, around 5ft 8ins tall and in his mid to late 30s. He was clean-shaven, wearing a beanie hat and a grey tracksuit, and spoke with a local accent. He was driving a white van with ladders attached.
Constable Ryan Clark said: “Officers believe the man took money from a local resident under false pretences and enquiries are ongoing to trace him.”
Police are urging anyone in the Clydeford Drive area who may have private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage from around the time of the incident to review it and come forward if it captures anything relevant.
