A Renfrewshire school teacher has been struck off after buying alcohol for pupils.

Between August 2021 and April 2022, whilst employed by the local authority at an unnamed school, the teacher, who is also anonymous, hugged three pupils on unknown dates.

On or around April 21, 2022, he gave a card to a pupil, which was signed "Love [redacted] xx".

He also sent text messages to pupils using his personal mobile phone, which were unrelated to school and sent after school hours.

In a report published on March 27, it was revealed that the teacher also offered to meet a pupil outside of school and sent Facebook friend requests to three pupils.

He transported pupils in his vehicle to collect pizza during school time.

On or around April 30, 2022, he purchased alcohol for a pupil and her friends as well as other pupils whilst the teacher was in 'The Lane' pub.

After careful consideration, a panel from The General Teaching Council concluded that the teacher is currently unfit to teach.

It has also been confirmed that he should be prohibited from making an application for re-registration for a period of two years from the signing of the consent order.
