A Glasgow man has been fined after attempting to run away from cops trying to search him.
Frazer Dougan admitted he attempted to run away from two female cops on February 23, last year in Renfrew’s Inchinnan Road.
The officers spotted white residue around the 30-year-old’s nostrils and therefore had reason to search him.
However Dougan, of Balvicar Drive in the city attempted to run away.
The procurator fiscal depute told Paisley Sheriff Court: “Around 3.15pm police were tasked to attended a property on Inchinnan Road after receiving a call about the accused.
“On arrival they observed white reside around his nostrils and informed he would be subject to a search.
“When police placed their hands on the accused he backed off into the common close and attempted to run to the back of the building.
“He was arrested and processed at Govan police stain where he was held until deemed fit to be released.”
Dougan’s defence agent, Mr McDonagh, told the town’s court this was a “poor error of judgement.”
He added: “This is a man who suffers mental health difficulties and suffers with addiction issues.
“He had been residing at a friend’s house, this is where this took place, they had an argument.
“When he was approached by the officers he panicked and fled.”
Sheriff Sheena Fraser stated: “I’m going to draw a line under this today.”
Dougan was fined £190 and ordered to pay this at the rate of £40 per month.
