Glasgow train passengers are being warned to expect major disruption this weekend, with key services between Central and Motherwell cut back, diverted or replaced by buses on Saturday and Sunday.
The changes, which begin on Saturday, May 9 and continue through Sunday, May 10, affect routes operated by Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, ScotRail, and TransPennine Express due to engineering work closing some lines between Glasgow Central and Motherwell/Carlisle.

Avanti West Coast services between Glasgow Central and Motherwell will be diverted via Mount Florida and Hamilton Central.
No CrossCountry trains will run to Glasgow Central or Motherwell for the duration of the works.
ScotRail services between Glasgow Central High Level and Motherwell/Lanark will operate only between Motherwell and Lanark.
Passengers can transfer at Motherwell for onward journeys via Hamilton or Carmyle.
On Saturday, ScotRail trains between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Carstairs will not run.
Replacement buses will operate between Motherwell and West Calder, calling at Carluke, Wishaw, and Carstairs.
TransPennine Express will not run any trains between Glasgow Central and Carlisle.
Passengers are advised to use Avanti West Coast services instead.
A limited number of early morning and late-night replacement buses will run between Lockerbie and Carlisle.
Passengers are advised to check their journeys in advance using the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner.
Avanti services will continue between Glasgow Central and London Euston, and passengers may use ScotRail services between Glasgow and Edinburgh at no extra cost.
TransPennine Express trains will run between Edinburgh and Manchester Airport, and between Carlisle and Liverpool Lime Street/Manchester Airport.
On the Shotts line, a two-hourly all‑stations stopper will run between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh on Saturday, while a separate train service will operate between West Calder and Edinburgh, stopping at Livingston South and Haymarket.
On Sunday, an all‑stations stopper service will again operate between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts, with trains between Glasgow Central and Uddingston diverted via Mount Florida on both days without calling there.
