A community tribute for murdered teenager Kayden Moy is to be held in Irvine after strangers reached out to his grieving family to organise a balloon release in his memory.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, Kayden’s dad Paul said the family were “overwhelmed by the kindness being shown for Kayden” after being contacted by “some lovely women from Ayrshire” who told him locals wanted to arrange the event.

The tribute will take place at Irvine Boating Pond on Saturday, July 11, with people invited to “get yourself down…for Kayden”, wear something green and bring a green balloon as a show of support.

Kayden, 16, was fatally stabbed on Irvine Beach on May 17, 2025 during a confrontation between rival groups from East Kilbride, with the court hearing he had stepped in as a peacemaker before being attacked.

Knifeman Cole Turley later admitted murder, while Jay Stewart and a 15‑year‑old boy were convicted of acting with him in the killing after a harrowing trial which heard how the trio fled the packed beach, boasted about what they had done and even created a sick rap mocking the dying schoolboy.
