Following their record breaking show at Barclays Hampden Park, Metallica have gifted a generous donation to a Glasgow based women's aid charity.

The band's All Within My Hands foundation sent £20,000 to Hemat Gryffe, a Glasgow charity helping women experiencing abuse.

The band already left Glasgow on a high after breaking the record for the highest attendance at a concert in the national stadium.

Brij Gandhi MBE, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Hemat Gryffe Women's Aid, added: "We are deeply grateful to Metallica and the All Within My Hands Foundation for their donation.

"For 45 years, Hemat Gryffe Womens Aid have supported women experiencing domestic abuse, forced marriage and honour-based abuse primarily from Asian, Black and Minority Ethnic communities.

"The staff team and trustees are appreciative of such a significant act of generosity. We were delighted to learn that Metallica is also celebrating 45 years as one of the world's most iconic rock bands.

"It's wonderful that, in a landmark year for both Hemat Gryffe Women’s Aid and Metallica, the Foundation has chosen to invest in our work."

It's not new for the rockers to leave behind a good impression, they aim to leave a donation with a local charity from each city they perform in.

Most recently, the band donated to a food bank in Cardiff and before that, a wider effort to support multiple charitable efforts in Dublin.
