The Home Office has issued an updated travel warning for people planning to visit Türkiye this summer.

The government agency is urging travellers to be aware of the increased risk of wildfires during the warmer months.

Wildfires are common in Türkiye during summer, particularly in areas with dry conditions.

Travellers are warned that lighting fires of any kind or discarding cigarettes in high-risk areas, such as woodlands, could result in fines or a prison sentence.

Visitors are advised to follow local restrictions and look out for signs showing where fires, barbecues, and smoking are prohibited.

If a wildfire breaks out near your accommodation, local authorities may instruct you to leave the area. Travellers should follow official guidance and evacuation instructions.

Anyone who sees a wildfire should contact emergency services by calling 112.
