Celtic are set to sign German under-21 international Mika Baur.

The midfielder is expected to arrive in Glasgow to complete his move. This will make him Martin O’Neill’s fourth summer signing.

Per The Herald, Baur, joining from Paderborn, will follow Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh in signing for the Scottish champions.

The move ends protracted negotiations, with Paderborn initially demanding around £7million for the 22-year-old, who had 12 months left on his contract.

Baur was eager to move to Scotland, having agreed to a four-year contract with Celtic. His arrival may signal the departure of midfielder Reo Hatate.

Celtic are also reportedly close to securing a loan deal for a left-back and are in the market for a new goalkeeper.

However, they are keen to retain the services of right-back Alistair Johnston, despite interest from Everton. The club will only consider offers in excess of £15million.

The club is preparing for the first leg of their Champions League play-off against LASK Linz, the Austrian champions, next week.

Further transfer activity is expected, with West Ham expected to return with an offer close to £25million for Belgian international Arne Engels.

Meanwhile, the anticipated capture of Baur will provide a boost to the squad as they prepare for their Champions League fixture.
