The Book of Boba Fett dropped its first episode on Disney Plus earlier today (Wednesday December 29).

It is a spin-off from another Disney Plus series in The Mandalorian, in which Boba Fett made his return in series two.

Whilst the wait for series 3 of The Mandalorian goes on until late in 2022, The Book of Boba Fett provides another option for those wanting Star Wars content.

As the show deals with a fair amount of pre-established Star Wars lore and characters, some of it might need explaining to those who are newer to the world going in.

Everything you need to know about The Book of Boba Fett

Who is Boba Fett?

Boba Fett is a bounty hunter, who first appeared in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, in the employ of Jabba the Hutt.

He seemingly died in the events of Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi after falling into a Sarlacc pit.

However, in series two of The Mandalorian he was revealed to have survived that incident.

Who is Bib Fortuna?

Bib Fortuna is a character first seen in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, acting as a sort of 'Chief of Staff' for Jabba the Hutt on the desert planet of Tatooine.

After Jabba was killed in the events of that film, Fortuna took control of Jabba's Palace and his operations.

However, in a post-credits scene in the final episode of series two of The Mandalorian, he was killed by Boba Fett when the bounty hunter and assassin Fennec Shand stormed the castle.

This then leads to the events of The Book of Boba Fett as he looks to take over Fortuna's operations and establish himself in the galaxy's underworld.

Who are the Tusken Raiders?

Tusken Raiders, also known as Sand People, are an indigenous nomadic group to the planet Tatooine, where The Book of Boba Fett is set.

They have appeared in several Star Wars films and Tv series, most notably in the original Star Wars 1977 film.

They have often proved hostile to local settlers.
