American actors Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet have announced their separation after five years of marriage.

They had begun a relationship together in 2005, and share two children together, their daughter Lola and son Nakoa-Wolf.

Momoa is best known for his work as Aquaman, Karl Drogo on Game of Thrones and Duncan Idaho in Dune, whilst Bonet is perhaps best known for her work on The Cosby Show and its spin-off A Different World.

The 42-year-old Momoa spoke about the end of the marriage in an Instagram post so that the couple can carry on their lives with "dignity and honesty".

He wrote: "We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times.

“A revolution is unfolding, and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring.

“And so, we share our family news…that we are parting ways in marriage.

“We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy, but so that as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.

“The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived.

“We free each other to be who we are learning to become," he added.
