A restaurant in Glasgow's West End has pledged its support for any refugee who finds themselves in need of employment.

The Shish Mahal on Park Road made their promise on social media last night in a post that said: "Hey Shish Snobs...We promise to train and employ any refugee who seeks a job...if we cannot employ, we will guarantee a job within our hospitality network"

A blue and yellow flag used for the background of their post suggests that the restaurant's owners have been prompted to offer their help following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February.

Followers were quick to respond with messages of encouragement saying: "Well done. A fantastic job opportunity for someone" and "Well done guys".

A true Glasgow landmark, The Shish Mahal is famed for claiming to have invented the Chicken Tikka Massala.

Legend says that the masala sauce was created sometime in the 1970s when an unhappy diner complained about the dryness of his meat.

Thinking on the spot, then-owner Ali Ahmed Aslam cooked up a simple sauce using spices and a tin of tomato soup.
