A THUG who scarred his teenage ex lover for life has been ordered to pay her £1,000 in compensation.

William Weir, 22, turned on the woman - now 20 - at Glasgow's Citizen M hotel on November 12, 2019.

He lashed out amid an argument over him being with another girl at a concert they attended together at the o2 Academy.

The victim - then 17 - left the arena and went back to the hotel but was later joined by Weir.

Manipulative Weir had told her that he wanted to split up with her and also threatened to take his own life.

Weir was charged with pushing the woman on the body, pulling her by the hair and striking her on the head.

The stricken victim lost consciousness as a result and woke up in a pool of blood.

She was taken to hospital and treated for injuries to her face and head.

The victim's nose piercing had to be removed from inside her nostril as a result of the blows.

Her lip was burst as well as swollen and she also suffered a cut to the side of her eye.

A wound to her forehead required stiches and she told Weir's trial that she has to wear makeup "every time" she leaves the house.

Weir was found guilty after a two-day trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assault to the woman's injury and permanent disfigurement.

He was told to do 200 hours of unpaid work as well as fork out the compensation at sentencing.

Sheriff Allan McKay also put Weir, of West Calder, West Lothian, under supervision for 12 months.

Prosecutor Katie Bell asked for a non-harassment order to be granted which was imposed for 12 months.

Weir will be up for review in July.
