A LOCAL charity has unveiled a series of fundraising events, including a Star Wars takeover of The Big Feed.

The Catherine McEwan Foundation, which was set up by Derek McEwan to honour his late mum and to help Scots suffering from Crohn's and Colitis, is known for its crazy challenges and creative fundraising events.

The fundraising programme will kick off on May 7 and 8 with the Star War's takeover of The Big Feed which will see the Govan venue transformed into Mos Eisley's cantina.

The event will include characters from the iconic sci-fi movies who will pose for pictures and meet fans alongside a themed food and cocktail menu.

On Friday, May 13 there will be a Comedy Crohnies event at Brew 74 in East Kilbride with Rosco McLelland, Christopher Boyd, John Scott and more.

There will also be one of the foundation's most famous fundraisers taking place, which is their take on a TV favourite, called It's A Knockoot.

The family fun day will take place at Giffnock Rugby Club and will see teams battle against each other in crazy jumbo obstacles.

Finally, the charity is also recruiting people to join them in walking the West Highland Way from Thursday, September 1 for four days.

Derek said: "We love staging different events to cater to our huge family of supporters and this latest series really ticks all the boxes.

"Working with the Imperial Scottish Garrison of the 501st on our Drive-In Star Wars Movies and Big Feed events last year was incredible so we HAD to team up with them again – the first weekend in May will be the ultimate Star Wars foodie experience.

"Our Comedy nights are always hugely successful, and It’s A Knockoot is simply one of the most fun things we have ever done – we can’t wait for that.

"The West Highland Way is really special – I’ve done it and it’s unforgettable. I’m really looking forward to doing it again with a lot of our supporters, it’s going to be a very special few days.

"We also have two tickets for the Platinum Party at Buckingham Palace, a big event with a massive line-up, to give away – money cannot buy these, and we want to say thanks to our supporters so we’re going to give them away in a random draw."
