DARTH Vader and some of his cohorts turned heads as they were strolling around the Braehead Centre yesterday to mark Star Wars Day by raising vital funds for sick kids.

Although he’s from the Dark Side, Darth – escorted by a Stormtrooper along with a Biker Scout and TIE Pilot – has done good deeds by collecting donations for the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Wednesday was Star Wars Day - May the fourth be with you - and lots of fans turned up at the Braehead Centre to get a selfie with the Star Wars characters in return for a donation to the charity.

Darth and Co. came from the Imperial Scottish Garrison, a division of the 501st Legion, the biggest Star Wars costuming group in the world.

The group’s motto is “Bad Guys Doing Good” - and the guys under the armous really do have a warm heart.

Besides attending parades and fundraisers, the troopers go on ward visits across Scotland, to bring a smile on the face of terminally ill kids.

“People are always blown away,” said Ian MacPherson, event coordinator for the Imperial Scottish Garrison.

“It’s always funny when they see Darth Vader just standing in front of them.

“Putting a smile on faces is one of the main aims of what we do.

“The kids are just amazing, and the work the staff do is really touching.”
