Deliberate fires at two homes in Johnstone have caused half a million pounds worth of damage. 

Emergency crews rushed to the area of Merchiston Oval in Brookfield at around 7.20pm on Friday evening.

Two properties were found to have been set alight.

The blaze was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service. 

While no one was injured, the damage is estimated to cost £500,000.

Officers are now probing the incident and are trying to establish the full circumstances. 

 

Detective Sergeant Karen Boyd, of Paisley CID, said: “Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing and anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area around that time is urged to get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 3242 of May 6.

“Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 111 555, where anonymity can be maintained.”
