A MAN has been left with serious head injuries following a serious assault in the city centre.

The 38-year-old man became involved in an altercation with a group of youths at around 11pm on Sunday, April 17 in the King Street area after leaving a bar. 

A fight broke out and the man had to be taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses of the assault, which happened in a busy part of the city centre, to get in touch via 101, quoting incident number 2818 of May 6. 

Detective Constable Larissa Cooper said: "This incident took place in a busy part of the city, so we believe there will be a number of pedestrians and motorists who will have seen the attack.

"We are asking for anyone with information or potential dashcam footage to please come forward.

"If you have any information that could assist our enquiries, please call 101, quoting incident 2818 of May 6.
