A POPULAR comic book stores in Glasgow city centre will close its doors this week after more than 30 years.

The Forbidden Planet International Outlet, on Buchanan Street, announced the closure on social media over the weekend.

For the occasion, everything will be discounted by 60 per cent.

The store wrote on Facebook: "It's the final few days before we close the door on our Buchanan St outlet store FOREVER!

"Get down today and pick up a bargain because EVERYTHING IS 60% OFF!!!

"Don't fret too much though, you can still find us in our Sauchiehall Street store!"

Regulars expressed their sadness at the news.

One customer commented: "You were our meeting up place when we were all teenagers, and we never went past without going in.

"Will miss you."

A second regular wrote: "End of an era."

And a third said: "Sad to hear."

The chain's Sauchiehall Street megastore, which opened its doors in 2019, will remain open. 

The Buchanan Street shop was scheduled to close after the second outlet was launched, but it was transformed into an outlet store for the whole chain.

It will close its doors for the final time on Wednesday, May 11.
