AN EXTREME runner who is making his way through the UK has praised the hospitality he experienced in Glasgow.

Tomasz Drybala, from Poland, is completing a challenge he started in March. He is running 2500km from the top of Scotland to the South of England.

Last week he passed through Glasgow, the first big city on his journey.

He said: "I arrived on Friday and I stayed in the city for the weekend to rest. On Monday, I was running again.

"It was amazing, the hospitality. I walked through the city centre a few times and the atmosphere was really nice.

"People were playing on the guitar, singing. It was a good rest.

"It was also the first time since I started the run that I had everything I needed."

The mindful running and meditation teacher is now in England, having just recently passed the 1000km mark.

While running, he is also raising money for Ukrainian children who are suffering due to the crisis.

About his journey in Scotland, he said: "The weather has been really challenging. It was changing from sun to snow within half an hour. Many places along the way were also not open yet because it is before the season.

"It has been really difficult to find even food and accommodation or to get some water along the way.

"I was knocking on people's doors and asking for help and Scottish people were shockingly great with hospitality.

"They were giving me food, water, a bedroom to stay in for the night, a shower. I met so many amazing people along the way."

Drybala, who now lives in London, is training to run the circumference of Earth from August, which is 40,075km.
