AN attempted murder probe has been launched after a man was assaulted in Moodiesburn.

Around 9.45pm on Sunday, May 15, a 28-year-old man was assaulted in the Westdale Drive area.

He was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary with serious injuries as a result.

Emergency services confirmed he was a stable condition.

Police confirmed extensive enquiries have so far revealed a black Nissan Qashqai car may have been in the area at the time of the incident.

Officers are now appealing for information as part of an attempted murder investigation.

Detective Constable Shemain Murphy, of Coatbridge CID, said: "A man has been left with serious injuries and it is vital we trace whoever is responsible.

"Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed this incident, or noticed anything at all suspicious, to come forward.

"In particular, we would like to speak to anyone who saw a black Nissan Qashqai car in the area around the time.

"I would also urge any motorists with dash-cams to please check their footage in case they have captured anything of significance, or anyone with CCTV that has not been spoken to by police yet.
