A BRIEF glimpse of sunshine over the past week has left us longing for the return of alfresco cocktails and busy beer gardens.

Good news then as bars across the city have already started transforming their outdoor seating areas to make the most of those warm summer evenings.

Here's our pick of the best new places to try:

Glasgow Times:

Brel Beach Club

Brel on Asthon Lane already has a reputation as one of the best West Ends beer gardens but this summer they're taking things up a notch with a beach club makeover.

A new drinks list includes boozy snow cones, wine slushies and Negroni pitchers to be enjoyed around a fire pit or on the heated patio.

The Belvedere Terrace at The Social

City centre favourite The Social has been given a colourful new look to celebrate its partnership with Belvedere.

It's a great spot for people-watching with 'Mediterranean-esque décor' and cosy outdoor heating for when the evenings start to cool.

A bespoke cocktail menu designed especially for the terrace by The Social's drinks expert Roddy Coyle includes a lemon and basil spritz with pink grapefruit soda, lemon and fresh basil leaf.

Cranside Kitchen

One of Glasgow's biggest outdoor eating and drinking spaces promises to be 'brighter and bolder' than ever this summer.

The Cranside Kitchen will launch its Summer Gardens on June 2 with plenty to explore from an aperol terrace to the sugar hut bar serving punch bowls and tropical fruit juices.

Foodie highlights include The BBQ Pitstop who are kicking off their new kitchen residency with Spanish-style burgers, pulled pork and ribs.

An exciting new outdoor space at Platform (the former home of the Arches) in Glasgow city centre.

The cobbled back lane has been filled with decorative pergolas, colourful festoon lighting and space for up to 100 people.

While checking out the 'urban oasis' you'll be able to enjoy Platform's fresh new summer menu which includes street food treats like cajun shrimp tacos or honey fried halloumi.

Festival Village

Described as the 'the ultimate alfresco hangout', the Festival Village has reopened for summer right in the heart of Merchant City.

'Boozy slushies' are the star of the show with a different flavour every week and there's no need to worry about the unpredictable Glasgow weather as the area is fully covered.

It's also dog friendly if you fancy a quick pit stop with your four-legged friend.
