NICOLA Sturgeon has tested positive for Covid-19.

The First Minister announced on Twitter she has tested positive for the virus after experiencing mild symptoms.

She has confirmed she will work from home over the next few days in line with Scottish Government guidance.

The tweet said: "Unfortunately I've tested positive for Covid this evening after experiencing mild symptoms.

"In line with @scotgov guidance, I'll work from home over [the] next few days, and hopefully be back out and about later this week."

Gorbals-born TV presenter Lorraine Kelly responded to the tweet: "Get well soon x."

It comes after Nicola Sturgeon had a face-to-face meeting with Sinn Fein's Northern Irish leader Michelle O'Neill in Bute House earlier today.

The meeting, which lasted just under an hour, saw the two leaders discuss the cost of living crisis, the future of the Northern Ireland Protocol and efforts to form a new Northern Ireland Executive.
