A BUS operator has announced it will run reduced bus services tomorrow, due to staff shortages. 

Stagecoach revealed some its services in Glasgow and Cumbernauld for Monday, May 23, have been cancelled.

The company warned passengers on Twitter: "#ServiceUpdate due to staff shortages, some bus services will not operate in Cumbernauld and Glasgow, Monday 23rd May."

It comes after ScotRail had to introduce a temporary timetable with reduced service starting tomorrow, as a result of a shortage of drivers.

In a customer notice on its website, Stagecoach wrote: "Due to staff shortages in Glasgow & Cumbernauld some journeys will be affected.

"Our team is working hard to ensure that service reductions are minimal and wherever possible will avoid peak services.

"We would like to thank our customers for their patience at this time."

The warning reports some journeys will not be available onthe following routes:

  • X19 between New South Glasgow Hospitals and Easterhouse
  • X25 and X25A between Oak Road, Abronhill, Cumbernauld and Buchanan Bus Station, Glasgow
  • X28 between Cumbernauld, Seafar and Glasgow, Buchanan Bus Stations

A Stagecoach spokesperson said: "As is the case with other transport operators and many other organisations, we are seeing a continuing impact on our staffing levels.

"Our teams are working very hard to continue running our planned services for customers.

"A small number of journeys within a day's service may not operate due to shortages, however, we will ensure customers are updated through our website, app, and Twitter account with as much notice as possible."
