YOUNG Scot cardholders can access loads of historical sites in Glasgow for only £1 this summer.

The initiative returns for the first time since the pandemic celebrating the relaxing of restrictions and encouraging young people to explore Scotland’s rich history.

Anyone aged 11 to 25 with the entitlement card can visit city historic sites including The Tenement House, Pollok House, and Glasgow Cathedral.

Glasgow Times:

Since its launch in 2018, the campaign has helped young people save hundreds of thousands of pounds in entry fees at Scottish heritage sites. Cardholders under 22 years old can also enjoy free nationwide bus travel, making access easy and affordable for younger people who have been hit hard by financial woes over the last two years.

Alex Paterson, Chief Executive at Historic Environment Scotland, said:  “This summer I would like to encourage as many of Scotland’s young people as possible to take advantage of this initiative and explore some of our much-loved heritage attractions, from castles to cairns, and enjoy our rich and diverse historic environment and the many benefits it brings."

Andrew Hopetoun, Chairman of Historic Houses Scotland, added: “We are thrilled to be involved with this initiative. We represent the nation’s largest collection of independently owned historic houses and gardens and are here to ensure these historic homes stay alive for generations to come."
