A BUS operator in Glasgow has introduced a special service for fans heading to the Scotland v Ukraine World Cup qualifier.

First Bus announced on Twitter on Monday morning that it had added the route specifically for the match, to take place on Wednesday, June 1, at Hampden Park.

The tweet read: “Going to Hampden to watch Scotland play against Ukraine?

“Our X31 shuttle service will get you straight there direct from Glasgow City Centre!”

It comes after ScotRail introduced extra services from Mount Florida - the closest railway station to Hampden - to Glasgow Central, after axing more than 700 due to a shortage of train drivers.

The express bus service, called X31, will run directly from the city centre to the stadium, starting from 6pm, until kick-off, scheduled for 7.45pm, approximately every 10 minutes.

It will pick up fans at Union Street - outside the O'Neil's pub -, Ingram Street, Glassford Street and Stockwell Street.

Drop off will be by Cathcart Road at Letherby Drive behind the West Stand, next to Tesco Express.

Fans will be able to travel back to the city centre from the drop-off point, with the return journey stopping at Stockwell Street, Glassford Street and George Square.

Tickets start at £3.20 for an adult single and are only valid on this route. No other tickets or cards can be used on the special express service.

The exact fare in cash or contactless card payment are both accepted on board.

Additional train services have been introduced between Mount Florida and Glasgow Central after the match, running approximately every 10 minutes, until 12am.

However, the last train from Glasgow Central to Mount Florida will run at 7.37pm.
