A CANCER charity is encouraging those who are due to tie the knot to explore ways they can support cancer patients on their big day - with a special charity tartan.

Couples can now make their day extra special knowing that they’re helping a charity which may be close to their heart.

The Beatson Cancer Charity Tartan was specially commissioned with “perfect tones for a Scottish wedding”.

The tartan can be used in a variety of ways from kilts, chair ties, around bouquets or even within your ceremony as a handfasting ribbon.

The exclusive tartan was inspired by Jane Hunter, former Glasgow School of Art student and now owner of Hunter's Atelier.

It was woven at Isla Bank Mills in Keith, part of the Macnaughton Group, with over 200 years experience as a niche manufacturer in the textile industry.

Beatson Cancer Charity's trading team Kathleen McLaren and Ginette Hamilton worked with Slanj and Jane Hunter from the very beginning to create the tartan design.

Ginette Hamilton, trading development fundraiser, said: “We are so very proud of our Beatson Cancer Charity tartan which has really grown in popularity.

“An increasing number of people want to give back a little something on their wedding or other celebration day and our tartan range provides lots of ways they can do this and help make a difference.”

The tartan can be purchased by the metre to make some of these items which can then be used at your wedding.

Charity wedding favours are also available to purchase as a gift for guests.

Kathleen McLaren, head of trading at Beatson Cancer Charity, said: “Registering our Beatson Cancer Charity tartan in 2020 was such a special moment for us.

“Working alongside Slanj and Jane Hunter of Hunters Atelier to come up with such a beautiful tartan while incorporating our brand colours was so special.

“We hope you love it as much we do.

“Please consider supporting Beatson Cancer Charity by incorporating it into your wedding day.

“Whether it be kilt or a keepsake heart, a favour or friendship orb It all goes toward supporting the patients and families of Beatson Cancer Centre.”
