A DOG with a docked tail has been handed to the authorities after being found abandoned in Wishaw.

The male brindle lurcher was found on Meadowhead Road in the Craigneuk area on May 17 and given to the Scottish SPCA.

He was found to be in really bad condition and an image shows him to be very thin.

His tail appears to have been recently amputated.

Inspectors found that he was chipped in Newcastle but the details have expired, and they now feel he has come from the Bellshill area.

Scottish SPCA Inspector Jack Marshall said: “The dog is a male brindle lurcher.

“He is in very poor condition and his tail appears to recently have been amputated.

“The dog is chipped to an address in Newcastle but unfortunately these details appear to be out of date.

“We believe that he may have come from the Bellshill area.

“We are urging anyone who recognises this dog, or has any information to please contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
