A TEENAGER has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in North Lanarkshire.

Samuel Hamilton, 56, was found seriously injured outside his home in Thorndean Avenue, Bellshill, at around 11.30pm on Wednesday, May 18.

Emergency services attended, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Saturday, Police Scotland confirmed that a 17-year-old male had been arrested and charged in connection with Mr Hamilton’s death.

The suspect, of Bellshill, made no plea to the murder charge when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday.

The case was committed for further examination with the teen remanded in custody meantime. He is due to return to court within the next eight days.

Richard Wotherspoon, 32, has already been arrested, charged and appeared in court in connection with Mr Hamilton’s death.

He too made no plea to the single murder charge when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last Monday.
