A SUSPECT has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man and attempted murder of a woman in Renfrewshire.
Police were called to MacDowall Street, Johnstone, during the early hours of last Wednesday, June 1.
A 40-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and a 59-year-old woman was taken to Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries.
Raymond Docherty was arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
The 28-year-old has been charged with murder as well as assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder.
Docherty, of Johnstone, made no plea to the two charges when he appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Saturday.
The case was committed for further examination with Docherty remanded in custody meantime. His next court appearance is to be confirmed.
