A search has been launched for a man who caused a woman 'alarm' after approaching her on a street in the city's Southside.

At around 8 pm last Thursday, the 27-year old woman was walking on Kenmure Street, close to Albert Drive.

An unidentified man approached her and proceeded to engage her in conversation.

He soon began to make 'sexualised comments' directed at her.

Although he did not cause her any physical harm, police are now eager to speak with anyone who might be able to identify the man.

He is described as 17 to 19-years-old, Asian, with black hair, around 5ft 8in tall and of slim build.

At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black t-shirt, grey jogging bottoms and thick rectangular glasses.

Detective Constable Paul Houston said: “The male did not make physical contact with the woman but his conduct and comments caused her alarm and our enquiries are ongoing to identify him.

“I would urge anyone with any information or who may have seen him in the area to come forward.

“Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting reference 1318 of 3 June, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
