AN INVESTIGATION is underway after an "item" was found in Maryhill Canal.
Officers from the Police Scotland dive unit were at the canal yesterday from around 9.30am until 12.45pm carrying out a search on the water.
Cops confirmed that an "item" was found in the canal and enquiries are ongoing.
While the force remained tight-lipped about the nature of the item discovered, it is understood the item was not an explosive or something which could have harmed the public.
Pictures from the scene show several officers at the canal, both in the water and on a footpath at the side.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were in attendance at Maryhill Canal between around 9.30am and around 12.45pm on Friday, June 17, 2022 carrying out a search.
"An item was found and enquiries are ongoing.
"There was no risk to the wider public."
