A VULNERABLE man has been left "extremely shaken" after he was assaulted in the city centre.

The 46-year-old was assaulted by two men on Gordon Street at around 6.30pm on Sunday. 

The victim suffered minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment, but police say he has been left shaken by the incident. 

Officers are now appealing for anyone with information about the assault to get in touch and say there will be an increased police presence in the area.

Constable Lauren Sloan said: "It is vital we trace the individuals responsible and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident, or anyone who matches the descriptions of the suspects in the area, to come forward.

"We are also particularly keen to speak to a man who came to the aid of the victim and would ask him to contact officers.

"We are continuing with extensive CCTV enquiries and there will be additional patrols in the area."

The suspects are described as white and in their early 20s, and one was wearing an orange top.
