FIRE crews raced to battle a blaze at a Renfrew chip shop this afternoon.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called to Paisley Road at around 3.08pm following reports of a fire. 

Two fire engines were sent to the scene and extinguished the blaze.

It is understood the fire was at Milanos Renfrew and it is not known how much damage was caused by the incident. 

An SFRS spokesperson confirmed there were no injuries as a result of the fire.
