An urgent search has been launched for a woman who was seen walking 'with little to no clothing or footwear' in Hamilton yesterday.

A member of the public raised concerns after spotting the woman in the Avonbank Crescent and Silvertonhill Avenue areas at around 4 am.

Police were contacted and conducted extensive searches of the area, but were unable to find her.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses who might have seen the woman and say they are 'concerned for her welfare'.

Inspector Gail Nicol of Hamilton Police Station said: “We are concerned for the welfare of the woman and would encourage anyone who may have seen her to get in touch with officers.

“We would also urge the woman herself to contact us to let us know whether she is safe and well.

“Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident 0335 of 27 June.”
