A POPULAR cafe in the Southside of Glasgow is closing after two years of business.

Babos, located on Shawlands' Pollokshaws Road and specialising in toasties with a twist, will no longer trade from their venue as of June 30.

While the owners have decided to go in a different direction due to 'rising costs' they assured their loyal followers that they will not stop toasting.

A post on social media from earlier this month said: "Today we are dropping the news of something that's been in the works for a while now...

"We are going to close where it all began for us - Our wee Shawlands shop as of 30th June.

"Over the past 12 months, our business model has changed somewhat into the events and catering space and with the rising costs attached to running a premises I've taken the decision that our future lies in providing our food via Glasgow and Scotland's food festivals."

The Babos chefs now plan to cater for weddings, birthdays and other events, and they added that their diary was looking 'quite full' for the summer.

They also revealed today that they plan to satisfy hungry customers with a new delivery service.
