A CHARITY walk which will benefit people in hospitality will take place near Glasgow later this year.

The Walk for Wellbeing hopes to encourage fundraisers to take part in a 20k route to promote mental health and wellbeing on Sunday, October 16.

Previously known as the Walk for Calm, the event will raise funds for Hospitality Action, a charity that offers vital support to those that work or have worked in the hospitality industry.

Since the onset of the pandemic, Hospitality Action has spent £2.3m supporting over 7,000 hospitality households in crisis and in 2021 alone, Hospitality Action spent £32,000 assisting workers in Glasgow.

The route will begin at Three Queens Square in Clydebank and finishes at Moss O’Balloch Park.

Those taking part will walk through Bowling, Dumbarton and Alexandria before finishing at Moss O’Balloch Park near the scenery of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs.

People of all ages and abilities, regardless of fitness level, are invited to take part. Those looking to participate can do so in their own way, individually or as part of a group.

There is also the opportunity to join the ‘take part any time’ challenge which will run from October 8 to 16 and is open to anyone throughout the UK.

Craig Prentice, founder of Walk for Wellbeing, said: “This year’s event is the perfect opportunity for people to show up and walk the walk across the UK.

"Sign up as an individual, or walk with family, friends, or work colleagues. Let’s make a difference together.”
