AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a man was attacked in Glasgow.

A 48-year-old man was found seriously injured on Union Street shortly after 11.30am.

He was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated for his injuries. 

We previously reported that cops had locked down the area for almost five hours, with Union Street re-opening shortly after 5pm.

Now the force has confirmed that they are investigating the incident.

Officers are appealing to witnesses who may have seen the attack. 

Detective Sergeant Chris Curness said: “We are appealing for any witnesses and anyone with information to get in touch with officers to assist with our enquiries.

“Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident number 1210 of June 30 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
