A MAN has been charged after a woman was rushed to hospital after being attacked.
Cops were called to a report of a 30-year-old woman being seriously assaulted in the Wallace Street area of Rutherglen on Sunday afternoon.
A police presence was spotted in the area at the time.
An eyewitness told the Glasgow Times: "Three police vans were parked in the street and several police officers came out a property."
Officers confirmed that the woman was taken to hospital in an ambulance to receive treatment for her injuries.
A 36-year-old was then arrested and charged in connection with the alleged incident and is due to appear in court today.
The force confirmed that they are continuing to investigate what happened.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.25pm on Sunday, July 3, officers were made aware of a 30-year-old woman having been seriously assaulted on Wallace Street, Rutherglen.
"She was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated.
"A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident, and is expected to appear at court today, Monday, July 4.
"Further enquiries remain ongoing.”
